SATAN SINCE 2003

Director: Carlos Puga

FLORIDA PREMIERE
ABOUT THE FILM:     Born in the late 1970's as a response to high gas prices, the moped was a short-lived fad whose only present-day trace is found among tight packs of young hipsters vying to keep the retro culture alive across America. For Emmy Award-winning documentarian Carlos Puga (True Life, MTV), three months’ access to The Hell's Satans (Richmond, Virginia's premier moped gang) produced enough material for not only an eye-popping peek into this otherwise reclusive society, but also a satirical jab at the process of documentary film-making.  Premiered at Sundance 2011, also screened at South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) 2011.   Source: filmmaker.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:     Carlos Puga was born in Santiago, Chile and raised in Miami, Florida. He received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Stern School of Business at New York University while also studying Acting and Directing at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute of New York. His career in television began in 2003 when he worked as a field producer for MTV’s acclaimed documentary series True Life. He has continued to work on the series ever since, directing and producing full episodes through his New York-based production company, Standard Arts. In 2009 he was awarded a Daytime Emmy Award for his work on True Life.  Source: filmmaker
